Ethan Golf
In March Ethan joined the high school golf team. He’s been golfing for years, under the tutelage of my mom and stepdad, who are amazing golfers! This was his first year joining an actual team and it was a challenge. Some of the kids on the team breathed, ate, and slept golf. Ethan mostly played for fun; so it was a little bit of a wake up call for him. But we are so proud that he kept with it and did his best.

MSU Future Student Day
In April, perspective Spartans and their families were invited to spend the day at Michigan State University. I have to be honest, it was so surreal to be there with my 18-year-old when I felt in many ways like I was still the 18 year old on campus. It’s been more than 30 years, but it felt like yesterday, when I stepped foot on campus — where I spent some of the best years of my life, made some of the best lifelong friends and created the most incredible memories (many of which I can’t remember the details of anymore, but they’re locked away for safekeeping somewhere in my brain and in my heart.)
We toured the dorms, the student union, and the engineering building. We were treated to a wonderful speech by Coach Izzo at the Breslin center and a preseason game by the MSU Spartans. We went to the Student Bookstore which hasn’t changed a whole lot in 30 years. However, there are a lot less books now, as most teachers, unfortunately, use the Internet, YouTube, and the like, to teach the current students. Before heading home, we swung by Harrison Roadhouse for a bite. By this time mama needed the most tasty crab Rangoon’s on the planet and a beer (or two). It had been a great day, albiet a very emotional one for me.
