Craniosacral & Synchronicity

By

After my Colitis Flair was settled and I was back on the mend, I made an appt for a Craniosacral Massage. If you’d read my previous posts, this type of treatment was recommended to me by Bridget Saraka, Intuitive Feng Shui extraordinaire, that I had worked with earlier in the year. I was in need of some TLC, so I did a little research and discovered a local healing spot in a neighboring city called, Rochester Holistic Arts. As ‘fate’ would have it, Nic, the owner (and all-around awesome person) was available for an appointment later that week. Which, I would come to find out later, was rare, as his calendar was usually full. And this was only the first synchronous event that would happen surrounding this event.

About a week or so prior to my massage appointment, I was browsing at one of my favorite places on the planet, Barnes & Noble (which still existed at the time). I was on a mission to find a book about connecting with spirit guides. I was fairly new to the concept and wanted more information like: What exactly are spirit guides? Does everybody have them? How many? How do we find out? Can anybody connect with them? If so, How? etc……

Although B&N didn’t have an enormous section on spirituality, they had more than enough to confuse a beginner. So, I did what I always do when looking for a book, or anything for that matter, when I don’t have the exact thing in mind, I browse them all! Since I’m a very visual person, for better or for worse, I do tend to judge-a-book-by-its-cover. If I’m attracted to the title, the font or the artwork on the spine, I’ll pick it up and glance through it. Probably not the best way to choose a book and I’m sure I’ve passed up several great ones with mediocre visuals, but it serves my filtering process.

As I was visually scanning, my baby blues stopped on one book in particular, it was Sonia Choquette’s Ask Your Guides — Calling in Your Divine Support System for Help with Everything in Life. On the spine and cover of the book was a little red Cardinal. This caught my attention because I knew that my maternal grandmother connected with me through red Cardinals. I’m not even sure how or when this began to happen, all I know is that over the recent summer months, when I was thinking about her I would see a red Cardinal — she was an avid bird lover! I began associating the red cuties with her and started to notice them more and more. When I was having an especially down day, “she” would appear, as if to say, “It’s OK little one, I’m here.”

So, needless to say, I quickly reviewed the ‘guide-book’, declared it a perfect fit, and took it home to join my ever-growing collection of books all-things-spiritual. The first few paragraphs Sonia writes about relocating with her daughter to Montmartre, Paris after her divorce. Montmartre is one of my very favorite places in the whole wide world that I had the opportunity to visit back in 2015. I knew in my heart that this book was meant for me to read!!!

What the hell does any of this have to do with Nic and Craniosacral you ask? Well, upon entering the Holistic Arts Center, straight ahead of the register was a jewelry spindle of handmade necklaces with a little clip-on red Cardinal sitting atop! I knew I had been guided to come to this place, and yes, of course I bought one of the beautiful necklaces so that I would always remember its significance!

The massage was AMAZING!!! I highly recommend anyone to seek out a Craniosacral therapist to help release the “stuckness” they may be experiencing inside the body.

During my session, Nic and I got to talking a lot about energy, the chakra system, spirituality and life in general. It turns out he has two sons, similar in age to ours, and so we compared stories and discussed the challenges of raising teenage boys during this time.

We both agreed that our parents had it much easier and that ours was a completely different experience growing up. We were the latch-key-kid generation; who, for better or for worse, grew up quickly and independently. Many of our parents were divorced and our mothers worked outside of the home. Delayed gratification was an important teacher: Saturday-only morning cartoons; four main channels on the television and you were the remote control; there were no answering machines; you all shared one bathroom and unless you were wealthy, you probably had only one car. Not to mention the extreme advances in technology, social media, etc. I could go on and on… But I will digress for now.

Nic had been through a lot in his life and had been on a “spiritual journey” for a long time. Now as a successful business owner and a talented, intuitive massage therapist, he was able to help others through his gifts. We talked a little bit about our individual “journeys” and he shared with me that he had visited a local Shaman named Joe Pahl. I had heard of Shamanism, but really had no real understanding. Nick told me about his incredible experience with Joe and I knew I wanted to experience it for my self. Before I left I made sure that I had Joe’s number.
